- Hours: 24 hours a week, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm, some flexibility possible
- Pay Rate: $19.66- $21.85
- Location: Administration (13207 NE Halsey St. Portland, OR)
THE PLACE
The Administration Offices for Portland Rescue Mission, located in the south wing of the Shepherd’s Door facility in East Portland, supports the life transforming work of Portland Rescue Mission taking place in 3 ministry sites, 3 transitional houses, 2 vocational training enterprises, and 2 outreach vans. The Administration ministry team of staff, interns, and volunteers serves to demonstrate the compassion of Christ to support the work of nearly 100 employees to give hope and restore life for thousands of people in great need through meals, shelter, and life restoring programs.
THE POSITION
The Gift Processing Associate contributes to Portland Rescue Mission’s ministry by facilitating excellent service to the donor community by accurately processing donations, responding to donor inquiries, managing data related to our donor database system, and keeping all records up to date. Along with these duties this individual will assist the A/P and Gift Processing lead and Finance team as assigned.
THE ESSENTIALS
- Systematically process gifts, both electronic and direct mail, by inputting donations into database and preparing receipts.
- Warmly interact with donors over the phone, answering questions and providing support.
- Update data (gift information, new donors, address changes and corrections, mailing preferences, etc.) into Virtuous database, adding notes and directing requests for information as appropriate.
- Perform clerical and administrative functions, such as opening mail and preparing daily bank deposits.
- Effectively communicate with and work alongside the Marketing team and other administrative staff as it relates to Gift Processing data and donor relations.
- Regularly update the financials (CRS) for the COO and Accounting Lead
BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith

- College degree in related field or experience equivalent
- Creative and logical problem solving, able to learn quickly
- Excellent customer service and communications skills
- Experience in Mac and Microsoft Windows software
- High attention to detail and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks as assigned
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, working with accuracy, security, and integrity.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
