  • Hours: Monday-Friday day, other evenings and weekends as needed, 
  • Location: This is an in-person position based at our administration office (13207 NE Halsey St. Portland, OR)

THE MARKETING TEAM

The Marketing Department at Portland Rescue Mission (PRM) is a group of dedicated professionals using their marketing skills to raise provision for life-restoring Christian ministry by excellence in fund raising and brand enhancement through direct mail, digital, social media, tele/radio-thons, media relations, and advertising support for PRM’s social enterprises. Our goal is to tell the stories of what God is doing in the lives of the people we serve with integrity and excellence. In doing this, we honor the lives of those we serve and share their testimony in a way that invites others into partnership with PRM through service, prayer, and financial support.

THE POSITION

The Digital Content Specialist is a hands-on contributor to the storytelling efforts of PRM through excellent content creation. The scope of responsibility ranges from digital strategy and website management to overseeing PRM’s social media and fundraising support. This must be done with an emphasis on producing deliverables that convey our message of hope and transformation. The right candidate will be proficient at overseeing all aspects of digital communication, incorporating current algorithms and best practices. They will also be comfortable with vendor management and basic copywriting.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Individuals, businesses and churches in our community will be inspired to partner with the work of PRM by encountering powerful stories of changed lives and community betterment via strategic marketing campaigns across a variety of broad and targeted platforms
  • PRM’s websites, including those representing our social enterprises, will be updated and optimized to implement best practices regarding SEO, content, graphics, lightbox ads, and design
  • PRM’s branding narrative of Giving Hope and Restoring Life will be told strategically and effectively over multiple social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • PRM supporters will be encouraged, educated, and motivated by well-crafted monthly e-newsletters produced in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator and Director of Marketing
  • PRM will see an increase in donor response as a result of successful partnerships with vendors addressing digital acquisition, e-appeals, Google AdWords, and grant management
  • The needs for digital design services from our staff across PRM will be met on time, on budget, and with a spirit of collaboration and excellence
  • Design elements produced for PRM will appeal to the target audiences in the PRM’s different channels of delivery, considering demographic sensitivity and appropriateness of content and messaging

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide creative input as part of the Marketing Department to improve overall performance in PRM’s donor relations efforts 
  • Seek ongoing training or enrichment opportunities surrounding design, technology, and strategy to help PRM keep on the cutting edge of effective digital marketing 
  • Actively explore and report on trends and new opportunities
  • Manage PRM social media accounts and website
  • Create and manage digital advertisement campaigns
  • Manage Google tools and SEO of website
  • Create and generate email blasts
  • Create and manage fundraising landing pages
  • Assist in general Marketing Department projects including events, promotions, and activities
  • Serve a minimum of two hours per week in a direct ministry role at one of PRM’s locations by providing compassionate care to the people served in PRM’s programs

BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree in related field or experience equivalent
  • Highly proficient in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite—Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong proficiency in software such as; Basecamp, Dropbox, WordPress and other digital media platforms
  • Understanding social media business platforms
  • Strong knowledge of SEO and website management
  • Knowledge of Google ad words and Google analytics
  • Familiarity with CRM software
  • Command of new technologies and best practices regarding direct response digital communications
  • Excellent grammatical, oral, and written communication skills 
  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and a testimony of continued growth in faith
  • Spiritual maturity as defined by traditional biblical standards 
  • Adherence to PRM's Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics

  • Desire to serve God in a ministry to hurting men, women, and children
