  • Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 20-28 hours per week
  • Pay Rate: $19-21 per hour

THE PLACE

Drive Away Hunger is a fundraising and community engagement enterprise designed as a platform for vocational development to teach job readiness skills to our New Life Ministry participants. We accept donated vehicles, recondition them. All proceeds from Drive Away Hunger support the work of Portland Rescue Mission to give hope and restore life to hurting people in need.

THE POSITION

The Customer Care Lead provides donors and customers with a professional experience in their interactions with Drive Away Hunger. This role critically keeps online sales records updated and accurate on sites as vehicles become available to sell. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with and sell cars to customers, as well as the ability to articulate the purpose of Portland Rescue Mission with each person they interact with.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Welcome customers and donors to the car lot, show available inventory, answer questions, sell vehicles, and finalize transactions.  
  • Market vehicles online by posting and keeping all records accurate and updated in relevant listing sites such as Craigslist, Marketplace, and other online sales listings.
  • Assist the DAH team in general activities including: connecting with donors, receiving donations, cashiering, running errands and towing dispatch.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports and deposit money at the bank.
  • Prepare DMV materials and deliver and retrieve items at DMV.
  • Help arrange the car lot and sales office in an appealing manner and successfully price vehicles for both retail and wholesale purposes.


BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A general understanding of vehicles and vehicles sales is preferred.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer care
  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and a testimony of continued growth in faith
  • Ministers as a highly-relational, Christ-centered, joyful servant
  • Spiritual maturity as defined by traditional Biblical standards
  • Adheres to Portland Rescue Mission's Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics
  • Desire to serve God in ministry to hurting men, women and children
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Experience in Mac and Microsoft Windows software
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
