Men's Community House Live-in Coordinator

OVERVIEW 

Portland Rescue Mission is seeking a Men’s Community House Live-in Coordinator. This gifted servant will personify relationship, order, responsibility, and community building, as they join a Christ-centered team with an award-winning culture and a commitment to serving others. This position lives on-site in the external one-bedroom ADU on the property.

  • Status: Part-Time, Nonexempt
  • Hours: 5-10 hours per week plus on-call overnights
  • Pay Rate: $19-$21.40 per hour
  • Location: Men's Community House in the Northeast Portland

THE PLACE 

The Harbor is a community of refuge and restoration that cultivates understanding, healing and purpose in the lives of men who have suffered from homelessness, addiction and other life traumas. The one-year, Christ-centered residential program integrates addiction recovery, life skills training, vocational development and spiritual growth in a safe, highly relational environment. The ministry team of staff and volunteers serves to model Christ-like living to support the up to 36 participants in achieving lasting transformation. After graduation, the Harbor Community Program provides training and support in a neighborhood residence for up to 7 men in order to successfully establish independent living and sustain addiction recovery by fostering relational integration into church, recovery and work communities.

THE POSITION

The Men’s Community House Live-in Coordinator oversees the Men’s Community Program, ensuring participants experience continued growth toward self-sufficiency and continued growth in relationship with four communities church, recovery, work, and home. This individual ensures a safe, hospitable, Christ-centered environment while modeling Christian hospitality and relational discipleship. This role works collaboratively with The Harbor Ministry Team, churches, volunteers, recovery partners, and alumni to support men as they transition toward the next community God is calling them to, while remaining free from addiction.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Lead weekly house meetings, twice a month one-on-one meetings, and group engagements that promote continued growth toward self-sufficiency
  • Guide new participants through application, intake, and transition into the Community House
  • Support participants in maintaining healthy recovery practices, peer accountability, and a posture of service
  • Collect and document urinalysis (UA) samples according to established procedures
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and hospitable home environment aligned with PRM standards
  • Provide on-call overnight coverage and respond promptly to emergencies
  • Ensure house rules and program guidelines are understood and followed
  • Assist participants in employment readiness by aligning strengths and experiences with job opportunities
  • Maintain ongoing alumni follow-up and connection in collaboration with the Alumni Program Manager
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff and volunteers while engaging participants in home care and community responsibility
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of one-on-ones, participant progress, and significant interactions using the Resident Tracker Database (DAP case-noting)


BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Prior Christian ministry experience (volunteer or paid)
  • Strong relational, discipleship, and communication skills
  • General awareness and knowledge of chemical dependency, addiction recovery and discipleship
  • Proficient in documentation, organization, scheduling and activity planning
  • Experience in Mac and Microsoft Windows software
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
